FIREFLIES – FEMME FATALE is a light installation proposal, with individual light elements made of glass. The light installation is based on the original EXPO’25 Fireflies proposal. The light elements feature a core glowing light element, visible through the glass outer shell. This feature brings into play an ‘organic minimalism’ style, while the glowing light element resembles semi-transparent organelle structures visible in nature. The core storytelling of the light element is inspired by the genus Photuris – the females mimic the flashing light of the Photinus genus and eat Photinus males. The female fireflies of the Photuris species are sometimes called “femme fatale” fireflies, because of their irresistible glow during lush summer evenings.
FIREFLIES – FEMME FATALE je návrh světelné instalace s jednotlivými světelnými prvky vyrobenými ze skla. Světelná instalace vychází z původního návrhu pro EXPO’25. Světluška obsahuje vnitřní světelný element, který září skrz tělo objektu ze skla. Tento prvek vnáší do hry styl ‘organického minimalismu’ – zářící světelný prvek připomíná poloprůhledné organelové struktury viditelné v přírodě. Příběh světelného elementu je inspirován rodem Photuris – samice napodobují blikající světlo rodu Photinus a jedí samce Photinus. Samice světlušek druhu Photuris se tak někdy nazývají světlušky „femme fatale“, právě díky své neodolatelné záři během podmanivých letních večerů.
